Holy Family Catholic Fire 4, Delano Tigers 2

Saturday's game between ranked 2A and 1A west metro teams was not as close as the score might suggest, as HFC was in control throughout, with Delano's 2nd goal coming relatively late in the matchup.

Highlights of Delano's performance include excellent goaltending by Jackson Hjelle, while Jack Paulson led the Tiger forwards and 6-foot 7-inch Tanner Glasrud anchored the defense. Despite a somewhat slow start this season, HFC's talented roster skated to a much-needed win on Saturday. Ben Almquist's patient playmaking, Joe Hankinson's quick-release wrister, and Garrett Pinoniemi's precision puck-handling make for a formidable offense. Savy, offensive-minded defenseman Michael Spinner's forays into the offensive zone put additional pressure on the opposition's defense. Fiesty 8th grader Trey Fechko without question belongs on the varsity squad. John Simon is also capable of racking up points, while defenseman Brady Ziemer quarterbacks the transition offense. With continued improvement, this squad should be a tough out in March.
